BBQ Grilled Ribs Recipe

This recipe should take approximately 45 minutes to prepare, 4 – 24 hours to marinate, and 8 minutes to grill. It will serve 2 hungry people. Double the recipe to serve 4 people.
Ingredients:
Ribs:
- 8 ribs baby back rack cut into 4 rib slabs
- 2 cups sodium free chicken or vegetable broth
- 2 cups red or white wine (you can use 4 cups of broth) and skip the wine
- 2 bay leaves
Molasses BBQ Glaze/Marinade:
- 1/3 cup plain tomato sauce
- 1/3 cup blackstrap molasses
- 2 TBS apple cider vinegar
- 2 TBS red wine
- 2 tsps. brown or yellow mustard
- 1 whole garlic clove (discard whole clove before grilling)
- ½ tsp. sea salt
- ½ tsp. cracked black pepper

Directions:
- Lay the ribs meat side down on a clean cutting board or a large pan to fit ribs. Remove the membrane that covers the rib bones by piercing and slicing it at one end with a blunt knife. After loosening a portion, you should be able to grab the cut end with a paper towel and peel the layer of the membrane off. Check out the video above to learn how to do this step.
- Place the rib halves in a deep pot and cover with the broth and wine. Add the bay leaves. You can layer the ribs on top of the other. If more liquid is needed, add more broth or water. Bring the mixture to a boil. Turn the heat to a slow rolling simmer and cover the pot with a lid. Simmer for 30 to 40 minutes until cooked through and tender. The liquid will evaporate, so rotate and turn the ribs a couple of times so that they can cook evenly. Note: If you use spareribs add 10 minutes of simmering time.
- Remove the cooked ribs to a glass baking dish and discard all of the boiling liquid.
- Make the BBQ glaze while the ribs are chilling in the baking dish. Add all of the glaze ingredients into the same pot you cooked the ribs in. Bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes or just until thickened.
- Pour the glaze mixture over the ribs, turning to coat. All the ribs and glaze to cool. Cover and refrigerate for 4 to 24 hours. Turn once halfway through.
- Remove the ribs from the refrigerator for approximately 35 minutes before grilling so they come to room temperature.
- Preheat the George Foreman Grill to the high setting if your model has one. Coat the grill plates with a light oil, such as canola or olive oil. Using clean hands or spoon, wipe most of the glaze off of the ribs into the baking dish. Place the drip tray in front of the grill.
- When the grill is ready, place ribs on the grill and close the lid.
- Grill the ribs for 6 to 8 minutes. Look for a nice char or bark on the outside of the ribs and a warm center. While the ribs are grilling, heat the excess BBQ glaze in a small saucepan or microwave for serving with the ribs. Place the heated glaze in a serving dish. Note: If grilling spareribs add additional time.
- When done, remove the ribs from the grill carefully as they will be hot.
- Turn off the grill by pulling the plug or pressing the on/off power button if your model has this feature.
- Place the ribs on a plate and serve with the excess BBQ glaze and your favorite side dishes.
