You can’t go wrong grilling the shrimp with your George Foreman Grill. They will come out very tasty and in less than 5 minutes of cooking time.

Shopping For Shrimp

So you decided to make shrimp for dinner. When you go to your local grocery store or supermarket, look for fresh shrimp. They don’t require any thawing before grilling. Some recipes allow you to grill shrimp frozen. The recipes in this article require that the shrimp be thawed for best results.

If fresh shrimp are not available you can use frozen. Look for a 1 lb. package as this recipe calls for 1 lb. of fresh shrimp. If you are cooking for a larger group, get the appropriate amount of shrimp to cover all your guests.

For example, 4 adults will require 2 lbs. of shrimp fresh or frozen.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. medium shrimp (no shells or veins)
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
  • 1 ½ teaspoons paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

Directions

  1. Place the ingredients in a ziplock bag and mix or shake well.
  2. Make sure shrimp is shelled and deveined and placed in a ziplock bag with all the other ingredients. Coat the shrimp well with all the ingredients. Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  3. Before turning on the grill, coat the top and bottom place with a light brushing of olive oil. The oil will help with clean-up later.
  4. Preheat the George Foreman Grill on high, if your model has this feature, with the lid closed. Place the drip tray in front of the grill.
  5. When the grill is ready, place the shrimp on the grill as much as will fit. Grill for 3-5 minutes. You are looking for the shrimp to be firm to the touch and have an opaque color.
  6. When done, remove shrimp from the grill and place on a serving plate. Be careful as the food will be hot.
  7. Continue cooking all the shrimp if you could not fit them in the first batch. After all the shrimp has been grilled, turn off the grill by unplugging it or by pressing the on/off button if your model has this feature.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. fresh shrimp – peeled and deveined
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley flakes
  • 1 teaspoon lemon or lime juice
  • ½ cup extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) for recipe and extra for grill

Note: Double the recipe if serving 4 people.

Total Time: 25 Min. Prep Time: 20 min. Cook Time: 5 Min. Serves: 2

Directions:

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a shallow dish or bowl. Use a whisk to mix the ingredients for even distribution about 1 minute. Add shrimp and be sure to coat them well. Cover and let the shrimp marinate in the refrigerator for 15 minutes. If you can let it sit for 2 hours, even better.
  2. When you are ready for grilling, remove the shrimp from the fridge.
  3. Preheat the George Foreman Grill and brush some EVOO on the top and bottom plates and close the lid.
  4. Place the drip tray in front of the grill.
  5. When the grill is ready, place as many shrimp that will fit on the grill and close the lid.
  6. Grill shrimp for 4-5 minutes checking that the shrimp is firm to the touch and opaque in color. Continue cooking until all shrimp have been grilled.
  7. When done, remove the shrimp from the grill being careful because the food will be hot. Place on a serving platter.
  8. Turn off the grill by unplugging it or by pressing the on/off button if your model has this feature.
